BA brakes onto AU... - Page 15

wat about using just AU 2 calipers with dba rotors (slotted) and briaded lines?
just thinking out loud or is it a case of you might as well upgrade to bigger brakes if your going to go to all that trouble?

the only reason i ask is because i have very little prob's with my brakes tho they could use a little sharpining.

You sure can just use AU2 calipers, but BA ones are bigger and are probably just as cheap at this point from a wrecker.

the caliper and rotor combo you choose is just what you decide to get..
the later model stuff is larger

but if you can get the AU2-3 stuff for cheap get it

coz in the end its gotta be 10x better than an au1 setup haha!!

then in the pipe line grab a set of alcon or brembos and your sweet

As far as i know the D brackets are the sway bar bracket. But i could be wrong

Territory front calipers do not fit on a Falcon!!

The amount of guys buying the wrong things from other wreckers then phoning us for advice on how to fit them. only to be told they dont fit.

we have fitted BA & BF brakes onto AU,s front & rear. we know what fits and what doesnt.

washers for spacers on rear calipers ?? LOL try get a rwc on that!

Yes, the calipers are different in respect to mounting points for the different cars, but they BOTH use the same pad, and that pad is the same as standard BA. The calipers are the same as standard BA, but with mounting points to suit 322mm rotors for Falcons and Territorys.

The calipers are essentially the same, but have different mounting points to suit the different cars and the different sized rotors used.

I would dare say actual Territory calipers may fit an FG with it's Territory based front suspension. If this is so, the brakes on the performance FG Falcons would be exactly Territory calipers.

For my AU3, was under the impression they would fit ! (Will double check none the less) else I'll have to go buy the correct BF XR6T/XR8 Calipers !

(Damn waste of money though!)

You will be able to mount the calipers but the discs is another matter.....have fun.

I will try and put a doco together over the next few weeks. or if someone does it i will double check it for them and add what i know.

for those wanting to upgrade to the BF ventilated rears I have 3 sets of new calipers in stock at the moment , we bought them at a great price so we can pass these savings on .

To clear up some of the mis-information in the thread

These are the PBR part numbers that we used for an AU2 XR6HP (ie. live axle).

Front Calipers are BF XR6T/XR8 and Rears calipers are SX/Y Territory / BF XR6T/XR8.
RHF = B862-360
LHF = B862-359
RHR = B825-138
LHR = B825-137

You can use either BF XR6T/XR8 or Territory discs.

Front calipers fit straight on, rears require a spacer plate and the removal of the dust backing sheilds.

if you use BA caliper mounts you will not need to use the spacers.

The later cars have done away with the backing plates anyway

So you can just bolt brake hose straight up and brakes will pump up as normal ?

Would the BA XT FULL brake kit work well in my AU1? if so, what are all the parts that i require?

Hey Blueprint and Benzor, there is another thread someone else started, "AU Brake Upgrade for the Mechanically Challenged" or similar, which simplifies things a bit. If you search for it, it'll give you the full list of AU2-3/BA/BF parts you need to upgrade the AU1 brakes.

In a nutshell, once you fit the front suspension parts from any AU2 through BFII to your AU1, you can fit any rotor/caliper package fitted to AU2 through BFII. As long as your wheels are big enough, of course. If you have 17s or bigger, you're laughing. If you have 16s, brake packages fitted under 16s will fit.

I don't see why its so tough for everyone to comprehend, hell I managed to do it, just by reading these threads and just doing it.

What you need:

AU2 onwards lower control arms - They're the big triangle shaped things.
AU2 onwards uprights - These are the things the hubs, brakes and wheels bolt to.
AU2 onwards Swaybar AND Swaybar links including swaybar 'D' brackets, 'D' bushes and chassis rail brackets.
AU2 onwards rotors, and calipers. The biggest you can put on is 322mm from BF xr8 and xr6t
And last but not least you will need 17inch wheels as a minimum for these brakes to fit.

I think that is a fair summary.
