Apparently you have to be a "battler" to be a real GT enthusiast and anyone who collects, restores, looks after or sells them for top $$ is an investor and capitalist pig!

i noticed you didn't put "drive" in your list. everyone who reads your drivel here and other forums will understand.

REAL enthusiasts drive their musclecars, 4vman. not just talk about them.

My car gets driven when ever i feel like a drive. Its allways there in the garage beside my XR8 which gets driven daily.
I drive it when ever i feel like it because i can, weather its once a week or month or once a year it doesn't bother me, i own it and look after it, ive spend an enourmous amount of time and money restoring it, which was allot of fun.
Tell me, how often should i drive it to make you happy or be considered a REAL enthusiast???

probably a typo, tried to enter 351 in a field that should have been litres (5.8).

Unless the bloke has ripped out the original clevland and replaced it with a rover V8??

I doubt its worth 80k+, mid 60's sound reasonable.

Without seeing it up close its hard to say but for 80K it would want to have all the missing stuff from the bay included and be in a bit better condition.
Id say 60 - 65 tops is all id pay for it.

Yep thats about what its worth, but I bet it goes for more. Not a lot of logic and plenty of emotion when purchasing GT's.

Yep very true, people who are educated about the REAL market prices of GT's know what an 80K XYGT should look like (immaculate fully restored and complete) but the prices asked sometimes rely on finding "the bloke with a pocket full of cash" and making a panic buy... "because they dont come up forsale very often"
Patience is rewarding...! There are plenty of good cars forsale regularly, they are usually word of mouth though amongst friends and club members.

What a beautiful car! still I think the prices on XY's has gone mad!! My old man had the chance to buy a Phase III for $3500!!! back in the 70's....he opted for a Fiat 124 instead, thought it would be a better all round car.....I will never let him forget that day!!!!!! :nutsycuck

yeah club mates can control prices to make their "investment" worthwhile. it got passed in at mid sixties because the sale price is made public. once again a wanting is far from what people are prepared to pay. typical club bull$hit.

My mate sold his track red XYGT for $85,000, but it was in much better condition than this one, if it hasn't sold already than its not worth the asking price, if it passed in at $65,000 id say that's all its worth. Good GTs sell very quickly regardless of the price.

I know of someone who sld their xbgt hardtop for 30k+

Globes may not have been an option but they were sold to phase three owners after the phase 4 program was canned. So I guess with front and rear spoilers and globes people are trying to make their cars look like phase threes.

So you forget that I bought a MK1 Jaguar for the same reason and in the 70's.....ooohhhh don't I regret it...but then the flipside probably would've written GT and myself off....doh.

A Low mile XBGT coupe sold 4 months ago for 48K, XAGT RPO coupe sold for around 80K, wild violet XYGT sold for 105K, Phase 2 sold for 140K, the best Phase 3 price ive heard of is 190K.
Good cars sell for top dollars.
These were all exceptional examples, cars of lesser condition obviously sell for less.

I still think it is worth between 60-65K and if it comes up at that price then ill be there with bells on. :

I agree 100%, a friend has seen it and says its worth 60-65K too.
There is allot of difference between this car and a XYGT worth 80K...
