Mad Max I (a roots blower you can turn on at the flick of a switch ?!!!) Running on empty (how cool is that '57?) Bullitt (what can I say cool actor, cool fastback, cool car chase) :

Gone in 60 Seconds - The original ; all those stunts done at real speed, no trick photography there.
Honourable mentions Mad Max Vanishing Point - The original Le Mans - Steve McQueen Bullitt wasn't a "car" movie as such but the chase was in the top 5 of chases. Bushbasher

Smokey and the Bandit Cannonball Run already mentioned Mad Max (the best) bullit blues brothers love the beast and I hate to say it days of thunder, the seen where they're driving the rentals cars is a classic |
