Talking Moffat GTHO and Greens Tuf at Lakeside this weekend.

Hey guys,
Just a quick note to let people know we will be running the Moffat GTHO Phase 3, the 1973 ATCC winner at the weekends Lakeside Speed Festival. First time run the old beast in Queensland for quite some time. It had its shakedown at Muscle Car Masters a few weeks back, so should give the noise meters a bit if a shakeup out there!!

Greens Tuf, Johnsons 1984 championship winner will be out there as well, but not getting a spirited demonstration due to the lack of tyres on her. Still has the same tyres from 1984 when it won the championship.

Upsetting that the All Ford Day is running on the same weekend, but we have committed to the race event this time around and hope a date change or even event merger can make for something better next year.

Details on our events page; HERE

Cheers,
Dan Bowden

Greens Tuf will be a lot better to drive once it has some new boots, so you will be thankful you don't have to worry about driving duties this weekend.. haha.

We will get it in full running order and have it racing around, with Tru Blu some time in the near future, no doubt with DJ at the wheel.

But this weekend it will be the old GTHO's time to shine, if you have never heard it come out, you need to... As good as it gets in my opinion.

No, not one of our cars, not really our thing having that one, especially with KB working here, both he and Dick said the best thing about that car was when it finally stopped that year... I think Greens Tuf one was just that good, pity for the Hardies hero launch into the tree's!

Right 4V, from a 935 Porsche. We can get them, but USA based and we have left it too late to ship them in. Need to get the car sorted first, its running again, but needs a few days at the track to be sure it's working right.

What's the story behind this particular GreensTuf?

Ahh it was the million dollar car built for allen jones. He persisted but the car fought back, never went any good. After the launch into the trees dick bought the car and gave it the saturday night grees tuf scheme, the thing was a pig and broke down as it frequently did.

I only know a limited amount about it, im sure dan would be able to explain a bit better.

Car in question

Can somebody get some good video footage of these cars running around Lakeside.

And then post it up here for those of us in other states to have a look.

Cheers

Not really it was race ready in Jones spec so Johnson gave it the over night dick johnson treatment (probably the dodgy one) and a coat of greens tuf paint. Still wet on the start line.

Car would not go fast what ever you do, if you ever get the chance to meet allen jones ask him about the car. (possibly duck from the left hook coming your way)

That car had the good running gear fitted over night too but it was a POS...
Dicks REAL car was a much better tool, and had the watts link properly sorted.

Do tell???

Was it out of necessity to get the car running, or they just couldn't have been bothered?

The car Johnson got to replace his crashed one for the race came from fellow XE driver Andrew Harris......it was stripped and given the Johnson touch over night.

Just got home from Lakeside. This is the first time ive EVER seen cars of this calibre and generation on the track and all i can say is AWESOME. I can see why folks are facinated with them the Alan Moffat GTHO was simply stunning and sounded awesome, as did the Johnson/Bowe Sierra. And to see the mighty Greens Tuf, i was in awe of this car. I got some pictures on my phone ill try post some up later. And to the lucky bugger that was in the GTHO with Dan i envy you mate.
Looked like is was pretty exhausting driving the GTHO Dan loved every minute watching it even with the lock up : well done
