Hi All. I have recently purchased a 2002 auII LTD. I am attempting to fit a mobile phone kit to my car. The car came fitted with a mobile phone car kit. Before I remove this kit, I am trying to get the double din audio system removed to inspect the connections on the rear of the sound system unit.
At the moment, I am getting the unit out of the console. I have a workshop manual that tells me to use special tool xxxxxx, but then the manual says that I can use coat hanger wire to insert into the holes, push outwards and hey presto! I have tried some coat hanger wire (2 u-shaped pieces), pushed them outwards to no avail. The unit will not budge. I am sure that someone on this forum has done this. Could anyone give me some tips? And here is a few more picks for you , The trick is once the wire is in it has to be firm enough to be able to push out wards both ways to release the clips

Thanks Guys. I will give it a go with some firmer wire. Does the wire need to have the points on it to work?

If you cut them on a bit off a angle it should do, long as they lock in . Just hope no one has been there before you and broke something off in the holes :
