Default Loom under front driver's seat

Quick queries...

There is a loom under a flap in the carpet under my driver's chair. Is this for electric seats? Looking a leather set out of a Fairmont Ghia at the moment.

Also is the optioned leather in the XRs any different to the leather in the Fairmont Ghias?

Cheers,

Ian

Could possibly be the loom for electric seats...
You'll have to get a pic up..
The leather in the XR's has a slighly different styling to the fairmont ghia, but basically the same shape..
Also the leather in the XR's is perforated whereas the ghia isn't..
Hope that helps....
cheers

I'm pretty sure that it is for the seatbelt pre-tentioners.

I remember reading somewhere that the leather seat wiring runs else where.
Found the thread in a search and can't remember what it was.

Cheers

Yes a photo would be helpful. I will get on to that.

The seat belt pretensioners appear to be plugged into a separate wiring loom. This sits by itself under a flap pretty much centred under the base of the chair.

Thanks guys.

you can also get 3 types of electric drivers seat, (depending on series and fairmont/ghia)
6 way, 10 way and 10way with 3 memory

Cheers Cam

they'll bolt in perfectly...
you'll be happy with those for sure...
If you've got the plug already there the drivers seat will work...
If not, just run a positve and negative to the base (properly) and it'll work...
I say get em....!

Very tempting. Just shot them a PM to make sure electrics are working. Is the passenger side electric as well? Off to investigate under that seat for a lonely looking loom.

You'll love em, very comfy seats even on long distance runs. Electric seat on drivers side only.

Cheers

If it was on the proper side of the country there'd be a bid already.

To give a bit of an indication, I sold all the door trims and seats from my AU II Ghia for $900, so that price is quite a bargain.

Yeah I doubt it will stay at it's current amount for long. Cloth in there at the moment is in great nick so won't be too upset if it goes out of my price range.

After bending a rod in mine (fairmont ghia) I can say without a doubt that there is a loom under the seat. Weather or not there are different looms for different seats I have no idea.

Mine is the 6 way IIRC, and i've been trying to find a replacement for the better part of 6 months. Good luck to you mate

I had similar thoughts. There's often some good gear over in Perth.

All the best with the bidding.

Hi. If the loom is covered in yellow tape or conduit it will be for an air bag or seat belt buckle tensioner, allways be very carfull of any loom in yellow in any car. Cheers MD

Am at the moment mate... but I'm thinking it will hit the 8-900 mark which I'd rather spend on something performance orientated.

Seatbelt pretensioners are plugged in so don't think it's for them.

Thanks guys.

That's fair enough...
Although it may surprise you and not go for much more...
I got my seats for around the $200 mark and that was full leather from a S2 Fairlane..
It was in immaculate condition, so, bargains are there to be had..
Good luck mate!!

Bargain mate!

I'm becoming a bit cynical of Ebay at the moment with mates of mates bids pushing prices up.
