I believe it was in december 2004 by former members of the international ford forums website after some disagreements.

It originated among inmates at a guatamalan insanity asylum who created it in between cultivating the hottest jalapeno chillies known to man.
The original name was going to be 'australian insanity peppers forum' but it was very hard to develop a suitable logo.

has it really been that long, crazy.
I still spend/waste (depends who you ask, me or my wife) many hours per week on here since it started (although post count doesnt back that up ), people talking about how much they love their Fords? (well... most of them) What more does the google machine need?

Gee wizz time flies. I remember some who fled the US site to tell me to join up with the AU site. Never looked back other than to check on the progress of the other site which I must say doesnt look half as good as this site.

Wow it doesn't seem like it but it has been so long, almost 10 years for the forum.
I was only a 17 year old ratbag when I first registered back in 05. Now I'm going on 25 and still a ratbag. :P

Geez my utes getting older.
I think I registered mid 2005 after looking for information about my new SP. Why is there so many people in this thread saying the site is the best, yet do not donate anything. Come on fellas, its not expensive and you well and truly get ya moneys worth.

What ever happened to Laminge the "La rust administrator"? From what I remember he used to be an admin, but hasn't posted for years.

There have been a number of changes to the forum administration team during the last 7.5 years although the current team has some long serving members as well with two of them having a little over six years now - an some of the mods have been in those roles since almost day one...
It seems odd reading back on that introductory thread that we would be where we are today and there have been a lot of people behind the scenes that have contributed there part to making this forum the place it is; mods, admins and members alike. Cheers Russ

Party time Dec 2014!.. Maybe combine 10yr anniversary with a December AFF Heathcote drag long weekend?
Ecoboosts and electric Falcons will probably be running 10s by then. It IS quite amazing how far this forums come since those humble beginnings! Well done Russ and all that make this such an incredible place!

I'm another long termer. (user #15)
I was around for a while on the US version before the split too. Amazing to think it's been 8 years already. A credit to Russell and the support team(s) for making it so successful. Speaking of clubs, let's not forget the ever popular 3FB. Not that I was a member, but I do like food. |

I hate to think how many hours of my life I have spent on this forum since I joined in March 2005. One day I hope to start a thread in the project cars section when I finally start my own restoration project.

Ooh lala, my login on the 'old place' is still active. I wasn't privy to the behind the scenes action and took me a while to sign up here, I just thought you were a bunch of bloody upstarts

I'm user #86
I was 19, and was there on the first or second day after being a member for a year or so on the US FordForums, having joined the E Series owners club due to my having bought a manual EF Falcon. A lot has changed. With me and the admin team. Im much grumpier, acid tongued and argumentative than the peace keeping gofer I was at 18, But through it all, I've always had Fords, even though my passion truly lies with another Marque now. I dont post a lot here anymore, but I still have a good read from time to time to keep up with ford news. I actually had one of the first postsin the bar thanking Russ and the (then) admin for the great forum we still had after the collapse of FFUS, but from memory, it was deleted after someone mined it.. Anyway, the place is well established now, I'd imagine Russ should be quite chuffed. Good work all. |
