How can people be confused about "the lowest point of your vehicle"..

It's simple.. NOTHING under your car can be less than 100mm from the ground, not bits of your exhaust that dip lower than the rest of the car, not your diff, etc.

you also have to retain a certain amount of bump stop clearance too, not sure how much tho, try searching on the equivalent e series...

When I was a young lad, my mate lowered his XM with the old Coke can trick- he didn't realise the fuel tank was nearly empty. Filled her up and got done on the way home from the servo for about 3/4" too low. Is that cruel or what? Coppers in the 70's, eh....... :ymca:

My mates SS Ute u could get it under a coke can just if the can was sideways. He lost a lot of his pictures when his last PC died but if we find one will post. Lowest car ive ever seen except maybe F1 it spent a fair bit of time ay regency raised back up slammed back down & so on.

umm... sideways = not legal...

the legal height, that I've heard mentioned many times, is 100mm...

if you can fit a 130mm high can under the car, with noone in the vehicle, then it should be fine

in vic it is 100mm fully loaded.... it used to be empty.... so they find people to get in and then they check it... but you can tell them they have to check it on a level surface, roadside can give a dodgy result

That is not true, I was pulled up in my sons mates XP in on Melb Cup Day last year in Victoria and the policeman checked it with all us out of the car, my son has since been pulled up in his EF (4 weeks ago) and the car was checked empty. out:

if u want lower than those then u will have to get custom made springs which the suspension shop will measure up in sum cases there are super super lows available but be careful with your NC coz its got the live axle diff there aint much room between diff and exhaust when lower them..... if u have an aftermarket zorst u may get away with it or if are getting 1 get the car lowered first and then they can make one to suit clearances

IN the vic roads reg we have at work, the 100mm can only be measured a meter foward from the rear axel and a meter rear wards for the front axel (it may be less than a meter but im sure thats what it said)
So there for front crossmembers/ diff housings are in the clear.... THe only section that ride height can be measured is the section between these 2 points...

AS on may cars the front crossmember sits close to 100 mm at near factory height (cortinas come to mind) .
