so the knock on affect of no manufacturers making RHD ICE cars forces us to hybrids too then, whether we like it or not.

There are nuclear plants all over the globe. Having no issues for decades. If all that has happened is one easily avoidable major one, never likely to be repeated, and 2 minor incidents, one which was caused by a earthquake/tidal wave?, then I think it's pretty safe if it's located in the right spot.

Along the coast next to the Australian cities would be perfect cause there isn't enough water out here to cool them.

Tongue in cheek there BUD!

You must not remember the SCARE campaign of Murdoch and the Liberals at the last election when Labor took a similar policy to the people!

Why does it have to be one way or the other and not a mix? This is what ****s me is the fringes of both sides drowning out what is sensible.

We're not going to switch to renewable power tomorrow so still need fossil fuels for some time but at the same time you have those who want to cling to fossil fuels and deny that renewable power has a place. Australia can do very well on the back of them too.

So you have hybrids as a middle ground but I don't agree with legislating it. The free market will sort it out but it has some way to go yet.

With a lot of our top trading partners committing to net zero emissions targets it is inevitable we get dragged along at some point or we will lose our ****.

It's about setting a deadline so auto makers don't have to split their $$$ between programs.
How much $$$ will now be pumped into Battery Technologies over the next years which will rapidly increase densities, range of the vehicles. Also, major talk in European countries about the use of fuel cells/ Hydrogen in trucks being due to distances travelled, existing infrastructure than can be still used.

I think, if it were left to market, we would not see any change.

Precisely. We're just too small to have an independent voice.
