Post All Electric, Hybrid Queensland Vehicles to have a Warning Sticker.

"Labelling requirements for Electric Vehicles (including Hybrid) and Hydrogen Vehicles
Electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles present hazards during certain rescue situations. As a safety measure for emergency services workers, we have introduced a requirement for certain vehicle types to be labelled.

If you have one of the following types of vehicles, you will need to get a label:

electric vehicles
hybrid vehicles
hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
All EVs registered prior to 1 October 2020 have until 1 October 2021 to ensure labels meeting the requirements listed on the Department of Transport and Main Roads website are attached to their vehicle.

These labels are now available on the MTA Queensland shop.

Member pricing: $8.00 for a set of two labels + postage

Non-member pricing: $10.00 for a set of two labels + postage

For consumers with personalised number plates, please email the Queensland Government Department of Transport and Main Roads (Vehicle Standards) or visit their website for EV label affixing guidelines."

Makes sense - like the LPG diamonds on LPG powered cars.

I thought the owner of an EV would yell out the window to tell you they own one anyway

Joke for those EV owners

Presumably, vehicles powered by sources other than petrol (such as LPG) require a sticker as they are in the minority.

When (or if, depending on your perspective) electric vehicles become the most common powered vehicle on the roads, will petrol powered vehicles need to have a sticker put on them instead?

Just copied this from a post in another thread, it's relevant to this thread also!

Default Re: Twilight for the traditional ICE automobile
I read this in my morning paper, here in Perth, I thought it was funny and very good at the same time!
It was in the "Letters to the Editor" part.
Will have to type it in.

SILENT MENACE

The scourge of electric cars was evident when I was about to cross the street in a popular south-West town last weekend.
Taking off like a rocket out of a sidewall parking bay, one of these soundless contraptions scared the behests out of me.
No doubt the G-force acceleration gave the driver a thrill, but his awareness was questionable.
To warn pedestrians, it should be mandated that electric vehicles have a forward facing bullhorn projecting a Back to the Future noise, like a flattened cigarette packet rattling across the spokes of a push bike wheel.
Until then, be aware of these Silent Marauders!

Sid B, City Beach.

Seen the little blue EV sticker on NSW number plates for a while now. Not sure if it's compulsory since I don't think most don't have it.

I can usually spot them on the road with the electrical cord still plugged in, bit like some caravanners I see.

No brainer really, if a emergency vehicle arrives at an accident of one and they have no idea about ev/hybrid cars. It could save theirs and others life.

I wonder if we’ll see any Ford BEVs in Australia, it would be a shame to miss out on the growing interest….

Been compulsory for at least 12 months.

Technically you can be fined/defected for not having the sticker.

That'd be Dunsborough for sure, they need to open a dealership in town.
Always makes me laugh when people say EV's are dangerous due to the apparent lack of noise. We've got eyes as well as ears don't we?

That's a huge part of the objection to Ev's: peoples apparent inability to adapt to change including the reduction in noise, refueling a different way etc etc
It makes them resist rather than think "Hey yeah I could adapt and work around and solve that"

Progress scares people, especially if they are old and set in their ways, they like the "status quo" or things done the old way and I understand that, it can be very scary!

Had similar labels on my EcoLpi. Nothing new here.

Seen a Harley Livewire ? 0-100 in 3secs !! Top speed 177km/hr. Future is electric. But from a refueling perspective it is hydrogen..

Reminds of the time a US warship visited Melbourne and docked at Station Pier and we were allowed to walk along the pier. I heard a bloke ask the US crewman standing at one of the gangways if the ship was nuclear powered to which the US sailor replied "Sorry sir I'm not able to confirm or deny that". And the bloke calmly replied ....well in that case you better cover up your "Caution Radioactive" sign up there on the ship...the US sailor just winked and smiled.

I'll give a bit of advise here if you don't mind.

Fuso Canter Hybrid trucks ( not really trucks but the drivers like to think they are)

If you come a accident involving one of these (around 2010 version onwards) please don't go rushing in to help the driver get out. There is a red flashing light in the dash set of if the truck becomes "live".

Energx and the like have been trained to respond to these vehicles, so let the experts do what they are good at.

In an accident the main power leads are not protected that well and a few in Asis have been electrocuted assisting drivers from the vehicle.

If the red lamp, which is very hard to miss, is off go for it, but please be careful.

Surely it would have contactors in the battery bank which would disconnect when you stack the truck

https://chargedevs.com/features/a-cl...at-contactors/

That's crazy if not, once you damage those cables and short them to the chassis of the truck you've got a vehicle body with a couple hundred volts waiting for someone to touch it.
