Dunno why, but it reminds me of the time over the christmas break a few years back i was out on my boat fishing with my mate waza. Waza was my manager at work but out of work a good mate. The boss calls my mate about an emergency call out (he put his phone on loudspeaker) and waz says he cant because he is on a boat. The boss then tells him to call me. The short answer was there is no point, as he was on my boat. The boss wasnt happy that he had to try find someone to attend. Later on i found out no one said yes and the boss begrudgingly had to make a 20 minute drive to reset a circuit.
One thing i pointed out when i worked at that mob was they did not make people familiar with all the sites we were encumbant contractors to. Some blokes would only really know 1 or 2 buildings. I was the only person who knew the ins and outs of all the sites. I left on good terms, but for 2 years after that, every couple days id get calls from prior co workers. Id only answer to my old apprentice, the bloke under me on my team and waza. Only because my old apprenti and team mate knew i wont tell them how to do their jobs, they'd have to tell me what they'd tested and checked and even if i knew exactly the fix, I'd just point them in the right direction. When waza would call it would be because a building manager would be up his **** as to why whoever was on site is taking hours when if i was there it would take 20 minutes. In that case I'd tell waza exactly what to do as he was sitting behind his desk, not on site. But it tell him not to tell whoever is on site that he spoke to me, tell them the answer but make them feel like a dumbarse about it. Sounds harsh i know, but nothing was ever difficult or out of the job description. So if getting told off for incompetence doesnt get people into gear to do better, it makes them resign. A win win for any company. |

They say that our perception of time is based on how fast our brains react to inputs from our senses; sight, touch, hearing etc. For example, if you are watching the traffic as you drive, while it might appear to you as a smoothly flowing set of changes (analogue), your brain is actually interpreting what it sees as snapshots about 40 times a second (digital). That is why motion pictures were first introduced at 24 frames a second, because the brain does not detect the flickering between the pictures. The reaction times of young people are the fastest at about 20ms or 50 times a second, and as you age your reaction times become slower. If you’re young and your brain is processing inputs at 50 times a second, time appears to move more slowly than an older person who is processing at 30 times a second. They say that’s why time seems to go faster the older you are. Caffeine improves your reaction time temporarily; drugs slow it down. Plenty of sleep helps improve it when you’re awake, but time appears to go very quickly while you’re asleep. So they say. Here’s one article. There are many out there. https://thedebrief.org/the-perceptio...rch%20explains.

Thanks. That makes a whole lotta sense. Must get betting older huh...
All I know is that, as I'm aging, I seem to spend a WHOLE LOT more time thinking. Bring on the full moon fever. The past week has been a gas. Cheers, One Man.

Don't overthink things, you'll drive yourself nuts.
Just accept things as they are and only change what you can change.

well said jaydee.
I'm a typical average bloke me think that what happens happens, why worry if it hasn't happenned. Tomorrow is another day type move on. Whereas my better half ends up to the point of headaches for her mind just keeps thinking thinking thinking, most times the worst. After all the years of marriage she has just started to see the light very very slowly. She's reading a book called The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F--k. A counterintuitive approach to living a good life it quotes on the front cover. Fingers crossed she finishs it and applies what she's read

Nothing stopping you scribbling all over your windows in reason, tinting is another matter, tinted windows can significantly reduce driver vision.

Why is it Uber Reserve advertising shows beta males using this service to escape to their safe spaces?

…Is it just me or have YT videos (particularly “how-to’s”) generally got more verbose of late? I swear some of these mugs could make a forty minute video on how to tighten a nut.

2 minute intro and 20 minutes in the car, on the way to the nut tightening event.

Coming home from visiting our daughter at the Mater Hospital, driving over the Story bridge and there is a banner flying above the roadway, "parental alienation something or other".
Me, I turn to my wife and asked WTF does that mean, is it a day for kids to truly pi** off their oldies? Apparently not she tells me after reading it up on Google. Feels a bit silly now. So all normal! Terry aka Tbro |

Why is it that in a small town out bush, there are certain non reflective little punks who think its big to get around with their caps on backwards, pants down around their knees and to everyones surprise, a logan anklet, all while throwing shoulders and demanding to know what people are laughing at.
Its you ya little twerp. Its just a shame society no longer smacks you back down on your butt like you so desperately need.

Why is it Toyota had to select a current production model which fits the V8 Supercars packaging requirements yet GM can continue to use a model which has been terminated? Looks like even in the post Holden era there are rules for some but not for others.
Go Toyota!

Why is it that there are Sooooo many 4wd utes/dual cabs that are kitted up as weekend warriors, the canopy, roof top tent, recovery boards, all the gear, that only ever get away once or twice a year, but are kitted out like that every day of the year? I mean, geez, is your commute to work really that arduous, or do you just enjoy spending the money on the extra fuel you burn to hump all that garbage around?
And dont get me started on having a ute, but needing a trailer to take rubbish to the dump!

I am 1 of those people who have a Ute and a trailer (Both are alloy trays), I fill the trailer up over a long period of time (few months) while using the Ute to do Ute things in , then I will tow the trailer to the tip when its full with the empty Ute as its the only vehicle I have with a tow bar at the moment, its just easier to do it that way and not have crap in the back of the Ute when I need to use it.
