Default Steering noises

AU Falcon Futura 6cyl. 4sp auto

....when I'm turning the steering wheel when the car is not moving (tight spaces etc.) , the steering vibrates sometines as it is rubbing on something. If I slightly increase the rpm it is gone.

It also does it when I am going very slowly arround tight corners (parking spaces in shopping malls etc.)

If I go faster its all good.

Does it have anything to do with the allignment or is it more likely the steering rack ? My first thought was that there is air in the pressure lines of the power steering system because it slightly vibrates / pulsates when you turn it at low speed...

weirdly...it doesn't do it all the time....just randomly...

My mechanic said the steering rack is slightly leaking but I don't think thats the reason for it...

what do you guys think? Has anybody had similar issues ?

Cheers

The Moose
