Just been checking some online quotes as it is renewal time.
My EL XR6 has a Redback cat-back exhaust, so therefore it has been modified by their definition. To widen my options I said no to it being modified as I might go back to a standard exhaust at a later date to get access to cheaper insurance (to the tune of almost $300 a year less). I'm 33 and Rating 1, living in Dandenong South, Melbourne

Allianz ~$800 (for stock)
Shannons $1066 (for modified - I have continued insurance with them)
AAMI - $1366 - it was $1020 last renewal (Oct 2006), but then I switched to Shannons for $990 1 year ago. I got cheesed off with AAMI that my premium rose, but the value insured dropped, I made no claims and got another year older. Shannons bumped my premium up by about $70 on renewal. I wasn't too happy about it, but it's hard to find better with similar terms.
RACV - $1375 - So much for their ads about how much you save with them
Australian Unity - $900

For the other insurers, I went for stock spec, so at least I know what I could get it insured for if it was stock.

My co-worker drives a 2005 Kia Rio, is 46 and lives in Endeavour Hills and pays $700 a year - the premiums are crap.
