Default 2008 NSW Road toll lowest since 1944

Noticed in this article: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...05/2458882.htm

"The NSW road toll of 395 for 2008 was the lowest annual road toll since 1944."

Condolences to those who have lost loved ones on the road.

Possibly less crashes due to less drivers on the road when petrol was around 140-150 mark? Better cars on the road perhaps?

I hope to see a breakdown of those stats as well as national stats.
