Don't know how long this show has been running on Foxtel. I came across it last night.
They were replacing the bigend bearings on a Jeep that had failed due to oil issues. To do this they removed the motor and had is suspended from a engine crane. Dropped the sump, removed the bearings one at a time. Linished with wet and dry then in with the new. The interesting thing was some of the bearings were completely destroyed and had melted against the journal. The replacement bearing shells didn't have locating tangs and they used multigrips to press a locating tang into them. I thought I was a bit rough at times. The funny bit was this was an english workshop in Spain and they were considered a premium workshop. |
