Default WB festiva reverse light switch

G'day

Does any one know how these work? I had a manual gearbox replaced by a dodgy mechanic and since then, the reverse lights come on when the car is in neutral/no gears engaged. When it is put into reverse (or any gear), they turn off again.

There are 2 double cables going into the gearbox underneath. One should be the reverse switch, what might the other be? I'm thinking they might be the wrong way around. They are not just plugs so before I cut them off and have a play with my multimeter, I'd like some more info.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
