Default Auto Transmission 'slipping'

Hi all,

I have noticed something lately that has got me worrying.

When holding 3rd gear and accelerating, at ~2500 RPM my revs drop and I lose some speed. It is as though the trans is changing up. It isn't upshifting however because if I shift to D then a proper upshift occurs. It is only transient and not associated with any sinister noises or crunching, etc. It only happens if manually shifting and when holding 3rd......does not happen in 3rd gear when set on D. Does not happen in any other gear either.

Trans last serviced in Dec 2010.

At this point in time my brain is not capable of trouble shooting this so I wonder if any one can give me some insights.
