Default Water pooling in spare wheel well

I had to take out my jack yesterday, and was greeted with a puddle of stinky water...

There was "sweat" on the alloy wheel and the jack nut is starting to rust. :(

I can't see water anywhere else so presumably it's a small leak that's been pooling for a while. I'll have to remember to check inside the boot after a good shower.

Just wondering if this is a common prob. Can I drill a hole through the body there?
