I've got a 1997 EL Fairmont Wagon (see sig)
When I got it roadworthied at christmas time, I had the existing four rotor's machined, due to shudder. I also fitted new Bendix CT pads all round, and did a mini overhaul of the calipers, along with a full brake line flush. (see sig thread for pics) The vehicle was good for the first 10,000km (if not a little slow to pull up). Since we've had the wet weather here in Melbourne, the shudder has returned, quite badly. Under light to medium braking, the front end vibrates something chronic. Under firm braking, the shudder disappears, but the car is slow to pull up in my opinion. When the shudder is happening, the steering wheel shakes lightly, and the brake pedal pulsates very lightly. I had a set of DBA4132 rotors to fit on the car, but elected not to put them on at christmas time. I'm thinking now may be the time to fit them, but I never purchased pads to suit. The DBA rep recommended a Bendix SRT pad, or Ferodo DS pad. What would be the best pad for the 4000 series rotors, and am I going down the right path brake wise, with this vehicle? The vehicle is used in stop/start traffic. It is not and will never be used in any motorsport events. Cheers, David
