i know its way off topic, but do people that wheel out the interest rates of the past, stop and work out the percentage of your income for the average mortgage back then compared to now? would you rather 17% on a 70k mortgage or 8% on a 300k mortgage. for many people at least 40% of their income goes on the mortgage these days. for many families, both parents have to work. seriously, its all relative.
