Default Please help me decide what to do. Au Engine.

6cyl 4.0 INTEC

So Im not going to go into details on how the engine is dead but i killed the engine in my AU..

I picked up another au engine which I'm told was running when pulled out of the car at 160,000ks. But I never saw this for myself I'm just going off the word of the guy that I've never met.

I want to know is worth stripping it apart and rebuilding it with all new gaskets and new piston rings or would i be wasting my time and money?
Or should i just take the rocker cover off and inspect it and just dump it in?

Basically my question is more of a what would you do in this situation..

Thanks heaps much appreciated.
