Hi guys, I got a 1600 i have removed from my cortina, I am going to be rebuilding it myself as it is a simple engine and i can learn on it. When i removed the engine i could turn it over by hand so it wasnt a seized engine. The head has detonation marks on it, and the bore in the block measures up as standard size for that engine and there is no scoring down any of them, all nice and smooth, all the pistons have FoMoCo stamped on them, they are well and truly shagged along with the rings. I am thinking that possibly it has never been stripped down for a rebuild? If thats the case, can it be rebuilt without the block being decked, bored and honed? just the head reconned, pistons and all new bottom end bits and gaskets etc...? Its not going into a car thats going to be flogged endlessly, just a weekender.
Thoughts anyone? Thanks |
