I have the conical airbox on my old XR8 and I have both the K&N and the standard type paper filter A1492 and I have been experimenting with the two. I personally can't feel any difference in power. The standard one is physically larger in the airbox, the airbox lid seems to seal better with it, and it is a little quieter in terms of intake noise. Plus it seems to keep the throttle body cleaner over 6 months.

I'd be surprised if the K&N delivers more than a couple rwhp let alone double figures but maybe my butt dyno isn't accurate Or maybe the other mods on the car kind of mask it.

But maybe the supercharged engines respond a lot better to this mod than the old clunker 5.4s!

And I ran a stock one on a ute that ran 10.38 @ 136mph... took it back to the track with a K@N the week after and it ran 10.36 @ 135

Theres no power in them on a stock car trust me, but they are better for $$$ for sure
