Default Do you think rear spoilers look out dated on cars today?

I was wondering what you all think about rear wing spoliers on modern road cars today?
I mean the XR6's still have wing style spoilers as standard, yet on the Commodore SV6 and SS's they come standard with boot lip spoilers, and wing spoilers are an optional extra.

Lets face it, apart from giving the car that sporty look and style, they add no performance on a road car, and just add unneccessary weight.
Also, wing spoliers make washing and waxing the boot lid a bit of a pain.

So what's your opinion?
Do you think they have had their day? ... Or do you think they still have that sporty appeal on modern cars today?
