Default 1st outing at drags...any tips/advice?

For the last few years local car guys have run a drag meeting out at the airport of our little town down South NZ,its got pretty big with cars from far and wide..every year ive gone out and had a look and had given some thought to entering this year on the bike but her indoors is keen for the experience so thought i would take the GTP (BA) out there and we do it together, not expecting to set the world on fire time wise but if i am going to do it would like to do as best as i could,BAs not modded other than previous owner did the exhaust front to back and had it dyno tuned, when i bought it the thing came with rubbish tyres and in fact had one of the fronts develop a spilt (belt seperation) so replaced em with Toyos, ones on the back were the same brand as front but so much tread left i have kept them...is there really any point for a 1st time out bloke to put the Toyos on the back and what sort of time should i be aiming for in the old girl?Any other tips appreciated.
