Your relationship with an insurer is a contractual one. No need for the mod to cause accident, causation is a requirement in a negligence claim- ie a negligent driver's negligence caused the accident.

If you do not disclose a mod, and an Insurer says that had you disclosed the mod they would not have provided you cover (and they are accepted that their in house policy procedures would not have insured your mod) - you have no cover....on your own....Is simple case of contract- what the parties agreed mutually when entering into the contract (ie the policy)
And then, there is that magic question near the very beginning 'Has any other insurance company refused you insurance'.

I used to always question that question.

Lets see... When I had the YF I was declined due to the fancy paint.

I never stated that to other companies. Had I have said yes it would have probably been an automatic decline for them to???

Who are they to ask what other companies have said - and more so, how can this be proven later on?

Is there a database of customer interaction / quote denials I wonder that all insurance companies have access to???

It's a most odd question.

I do agree that each and every mod MUST be listed in clear and plain English on your policy, no matter how legit or allowable it is.

We have seen from the recent flooding and storm damage here in Sydney how quick a company can pull out and quote the terms and conditions that always seem to favor them and reduce or decline your payout.
