Looks like someone designed the HVAC then another team did the electrical system. Might be easier on a LH drive Mondeo.
I followed the Haynes manual, but it was still very fiddly even after removing the glovebox as a number of cables get in the way. Looking on line, some say to completely remove the fuse module, or whatever it's called. Others suggest just unplugging 2 cables on the RH side, then moving it out of the way. I suspect that you could leave the glovebox in place if the fuse module was removed. I bought the Ford filter as it has a charcoal layer. The air definitely smells cleaner in city traffic. I did laugh at some of the before and after pics on the web showing a clean white filter and the "dirty" original! It was interesting to see that the mechanic who did the job last time had trouble with the plastic screw fitting on the felt cover. They just unclipped it from the plastic trim panel, but didn't put it back. I've found that you have to but upward pressure on those fittings as you remove the screw, otherwise it never comes out.
