This is exactly right and another example that backs it up is music - the most popular, top 40 type stuff is by far the worst stuff being produced. Actually, with music you can make an argument that on a sliding scale, the more popular it is, the worse it is. When you look at the top selling cars - Corolla and HiLux, you could make the same argument here as well...
