The Korean KTX network is pretty good and covers a lot of the country. I have used it often.

I believe Korea is the only country where their train system pays off their investment and runs at a profit.

It's also so cheap and easy to use.

The Japanese Shinkansen network seems to also cover the majority of the mainland. I have used it a few times.

It's much more expensive compared to Korea and I found their metro system in Osaka to be an absolute joke. Expensive and overly complicated, especially with long duration travel passes.

Haven't been to China in over 10 years, didn't catch any fast trains but made good use of the Beijing metro. It was dirt cheap, but not very foreigner friendly.

We fumble and screw up our public trains costing us hundreds of millions in trial and error.

Should have just got 2 Korean boffins here to sort out our systems.
