Default Advice on rowing machines

Looking to buy one.

Who's got one and what type?

My brother has a water one and it's pretty solid but pricey compared to some magnetic ones. Obviously you get what you pay for. Some reviews of the cheaper magnetic ones say there is very little resistance even at the maximum setting.

I need one to suit 3 different sized people. I'm 188cm and wife is about 160cm with a daughter in between. I assume they all would suit but just asking in case some don't.

Don't mind spending up toward $1000.
