Default Explorer timing chain distaster help needed

HI I have a 97 Explorer and have just been told by my mechanic that I am up for a new motor due to the Plastic timing chain tensioner disintergrating I have done some research and have found that in USA this componant was subject to a recall I have spoken to Ford Australia who have stated that although it is the same engine that was imported to australia their techincians gave it the all clear. I have contacted Consumer Affairs who have advised me to get as many owners of the 97/98 Explorers to email me with your thoughts and concers on this problem so I can forward them to Ford Australia if no satisfaction or recalls are issued I will then take the information to the ACCC who if we have enough owners with this problem or who may encounter this in the future will act on our behalf. Please forward this to any other owner who may be affected. Please redirect their responses to me at teenymak@bigpond.net.au.
