Default rare xy????????

mates grandfather has a factory black xy fairmont...,it mite be for sale....pretty straight old girl too,bit of rust but he still uses it as an everyday driver and has since he got her brand new...
question is,apparently,cos i havent seen under the bonnet,its a factory 4 speed with,and here is the big one,sumthing like a 4.9l venturi 6cyl engine...wot is this?anyone got an idea..

UPDATE....just viewed the car,it is an xy,not factory black,but factory white interior,intake manifold is bolted on,mate swears it is a yank venturi motor,looks a bit bigger too a 250,ill get pics later...original tappet cover is red and has powered by ford stamped on it...
got some codes off her..
