Default Help! Problem with AU, maybe you E-Series guys can help

Hi all,
Thought since there the same motor you E-series ppl can help me (My EB is going better than the AU)
Just bought an AU series 1 forte wagon 155kms. Here's my problem...
On driving the car from startup it shakes like all hell. only stops when the car is is pushed (Beyond 3,000rpm). Just crusing along at 2000rpms be it on the freeway or on suburban roads it shakes unless you back of the accelerator completly or give it a fair bit. It kinda put puts, and stutters/hesitates.
It also seems to have reduced power.
Im thinking that maybe it needs a new Calytic Converter. But if anyone has any ideas or knows the problem please help me!!!
Thanks alot.
Jonny.
