Hey peoples...I'm back with the blue oval (swapped my VL turbo for a 98 AU Fairmont Ghia 5L). So anyways...I've noticed that my abs light remains on at all times...I've tested the braking from slow speed and find that the wheels locked, so perhaps I don't have abs at all. Pedal feel is weak with it going almost all the way to the floor.
My traction control light stays on too...flicking the switch makes no noise or does anything. And last one...when cruising at different speeds, there is a rubbing noise of some sort coming from the front left somewhere...more prominent when turning right. Any help would be great peoples! Cheers... |

Sounds like you need to get under the front left wheel and inspect the pulse ring and sensor
If the ABS light is on it means there is a fault and ABS has been disabled. Traction control is linked in with ABS that's why it's off too. |

next port of call my man is the brake shop....and id be doing it pretty soon. if youve just bought it, was it private seller, or dealer? if dealer, there should be at least a 6 month warrenty and they will cover that sort of thing, especially if it has been that way since you bought it.

Well if you bought it with a RWC take it back and say wtf is going on here and it shouldn't be your problem........ But on the other hand and it didn't come with 1 I would be getting it checked out, as to that brakes are fairly usefull in a car

Welcome back to the blue oval. Is the car on gas? That plays havoc with the traction control system and isn't compatible with gas. If it is, turn off the gas and see if the TC light goes out. As for the ABS, could be the sensor, filled with crud. Gently clean it and then see. If no joy, go to the brake dude. Even though these are rears, here is a pic of the abs sensor ring. It's the bit with the ridges on it. The sensor is a small bit about half way down. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...2&postcount=68 This will be more helpful. Look at picture #6, you can see the sensor through the hole. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...5&postcount=54 Keep us posted with your progress. BTW, swapping a VL for an AU Ghia V8 is an awesome deal. You scored! GK
