i wanna change my grill.
ive got the standard forte one. series 3
black with horizontal lines with the ford badge in the middle.
wat ones can i change it with and were from n how much

youl find theres not much about at all C2R type grill is about it i think other than a custom made one... I think member HOTC2R is the man to get grills for ya give him a PM

you can go fairmont aswell i think, but the c2r is the way to go. I can vouch for HOTC2R aswell

the c2r replaces the whole grill. i really just want to unscrew the black section and screw in a new if possible

yep, custom will be the only way to go if you don't wish to replace the whole grill.

can i ask why you don't want to change the whole grill?

Go have a look around bunnings and you can make your own custom grill very easy to do and very cheap as well.

i dont really want to spend to much. what s the average of one painted n all.
and i thoght of do n my own with mesh i just gotta find one that doesnt look cheap

I reckon waggaclint's suggestion is the way to go,in regards to JC's one in the pic. I think mesh looks great if it's not over done and of the right type and diameter.It would look good in the forte grill aperture.I'm thinking of cutting out the chrome cross piece in my futura grill and replacing with a bit of mesh.
Some of the grill/inserts in the various body kits look plain ugly.Something stylish,inconspicuous and subtle that compliments the existing body style and lines of the car is the way to go.

I saw a Commodore VN today, that was obviously it's owners pride and joy and it was in super condition-but was it UGLY! It had what looked like a bastardised VT style bodykit fitted to it,and while much effort would have to gone into fabricating it to fit-it just didn't look good at all.And it had what looked like a VY SS grill or similar.
So a small thing such as a grill can really add or detract from the overall aesthetics of the car.

You could browse your local Ford dealer and check out all the range of grills on the various models-old and new.Something will take your fancy for sure...(and I don't mean the receptionist...)

ive been looking at trying to swap just the middle mesh piece over from a fairmont type grill...does anyone now if it swap over??

It should fit...I've been thinking of doing the same with our AU2 Futura sedan. As a matter of fact, I've just pulled the centre section out of my nephew's AU3 SR sedan grille to repaint it and they're only held into the outer frame by a few screws...so if they are a direct replacement, it'd be a simple mod...Cheers Linz.

Somewhere - I'll see if I can track it down.

I was originally laughed at for doing the front bar that way. The lower lip is actually a modified Pursuit lip (as fitted to S2/3 XR Pursuit utes). I had to cut a fair bit away to fit it in, as well as cut the backs off and never got around to fibreglassing it back up, but from the front and side it looked OK. It was held on by 3 allen head bolts and nyloc nuts on each side - sort of like the old A9X flares look.

The grille was built using some offcut mesh from the local metal place - around $5 for a 600 x 600mm sheet of galvanised mesh, painted black with engine enamel. Then I pulled the grille apart, and cut the bars off the grille insert, and fibreglassed up the holes that were left to leave a nice smooth grille insert with no bars - once again, painted black (lucky it was a black car). The mesh was held in by the screws that hold the grille insert to the grille surround, and I think 2 or 3 countersunk roofing bolts and nuts, again painted black to hide them.

The original version of this grille I did was for my AU2 Forte V8, and I actually extended the grille surround depth by about 15mm, and once meshed, it looked very similar to a TS50 grille - with the brumby bar, it actually fooled a few real TE/TS50 owners!
