Hi was just wondering ifa nyone has fitted 15 inch or 16 inch rims to a mk1 ford capri , with wide tyres will they clear the guards ?

15 inch rims fit under but in those width they will scrape like buggery. 16inch rims on a Capri look absolutely stupid (sorry, I'm a purist)
You need a low profile tyre 40/50 max upto 205 wide. Go for a period sytle rim such as a minilite/superlite/bathurst 5 spoke/etc, otherwise the car will just look "pimped." |

i got 13's with 205s for mi escort....and on mums capri she had 13's with 205s aswell.... ill agree with the purist above

I'm not that much of a purist that I wouldn't go with 15's, especially now that sourcing good quality 13 inch rubber is getting difficult (no, I'm not bragging).....Its just that 16 inch wheels look riduculous on an old skool vehicle like a Capri.

Sorry, not a purist! I run 16x8 roh ZS rims with 205/50/16 frt and 225/55/16 rears. No rubbing after rolling the guards. Looks good too!
