Default N/A mods...

Seeing as it is not looking likely that the raptor SC kit will be ready + tested properly by the time which i am looking at doing some mods to my car, i am now looking into the N/A route..

Currently thinking about:

CMS Stage 3 Head & Cam Package - Approx $2,200 + gaskets, head bolts, coolant etc...
Edit + Tune - $1,050
78mm TB - $400
New Sparkplugs + leads - $100?

Don't particularly want a hi-stall, as i won't be taking it to the track or anything and just want it to be a daily driver (would look into the hi-stall if i was pursuing the forced induction route)

Any other ideas?

just wait for forced induction.

you'll get a lot more power for the $$$ spent.

Have you considered a manual conversion? I have been pushing this on everyone who asks for mod sugestions! :P Seeing as your not interested in track work, I recon it would be perfect for you. It really picks up the fun factor of the trusty I6!

I reckon the manual is a great idea. I drove Evan's I6 5 speed last night and I'm still giddy! I've spoken to my mechanic today to get me prices on conversion bits!

True

I may just get a cam + edit. Cost less than $2k, then go forced induction when there have been a few guinea pigs

Hmm there are better places out there to do head+cam work than CMS, but they are O.K. Joe is a good bloke though.
No point getting a bigger throttle body, waste of time, if anything you will loose power... as for the manual conversion, looking at $1500 or so, probably cheaper if you do it yourself.

Suggestions:
- 3000rpm stall(its not high), shift kit and oil cooler.
- 3.9 or 4.11 diff gears.
- GnD or Bluepower airbox
- Nice decent cam- Camtech. Kostecki. Surecam. Crow. (all make nice cams for the 4L)
-Custom Edit and Tune for sure.

If you still want more then its time to send the head away to someone that knows what they are doing.

I was talking to a freind of mine and he said that if you get a cam with forced induction. The cam that gets the best out of an NA would need some work to get the best out of forced induction. just wondering if this is true, cause if it is it might be wise to tell your mechanic that or save the edit and cam until you get the F.I.

That's definately true with turbo's. I know turbo cams are different to NA cams, not sure about supercharged tho

A dirty great big NA cam is good for a supercharger, not so good for a turbo. Due to overlap. (from memory)
