Hey guys just a quick question. My new datto came with a Tonkins alarm. On the remote there is two buttons now i know how to use the main button which turns it on/off, but there is a smaller button on top which just seems to make the indicators flash. My question is what does this actually do? other than flash indicators obviously..
Cheers in advance |

Dunno, but could it be a silent arm?
The alarm I got off eBay for $50 has a silent alarm button where only the indicators flash and you don't hear an audible chirp.

Maybe its just to freak people out that are close to your car cos i always thought the small button was for boot release but being how old the car is it wouldn,t be electronic or have it

i was in the car security game for 9 years and never heard of a "tomkins" brand alarm before. if you are serious about using the alarm to secure your datto it might pay to get it checked out to see how effective it is. a lot of alarms on the market that do next to nothing to secure the car except make a bit of noise if your lucky.
second button might be to operate a remote boot release function that hasnt been installed. P.S. my sister inlaw has a datto ute that looks like it would be the same model as your car. i think her grandfather bought it new. its not as tidy as yours though.

Yeah looks like the boot release seems most obvious answer
Tonkins are like a strathfield etc.. they probly just put their name on a generic alarm, Good point bout it working properly though, I know the siren works but havnt sussed if it imobilises yet. Cheers mate. They are a great little car the ol 1000cc doesn't go too bad, downside is drums all round and single leaf front end, but she aint a race car |

You are seriously going to regret that tonkins alarm system. Had one on the ute, it was joke. Forget how many time's it was in the shop over a period of ten years. A couple of times at the Goodwood road store, I reckon 4 people came up to the counter complaining about alarms they had fitted. Good luck !
