My 99 AU, on first start of the day, starts, the revs start to drop, then it
stalls. Turn the key again, and all is good for the rest of the day. The car is not converted to LPG. Sometimes it does it at the end of the end of the day when I'd ready to go home, but it's fine at all other times. I had a quick word to a mechanic, and he said it could be the BCM (Body Control Module) that needs to be reset. Any idea how I do that? Any other ideas on what it could be? Other work I'm doing on it, that are unrelated is, I'm replacing the tensioner and pulleys this weekend, as well as changing the oil and plugs, so it's a pamper the car weekend. I'd like to get this stalling sorted out while I'm working on it. I initially thought it could be a coil pack on the way out, but the mech I spoke to didn't seem to agree. The car has done about 235,000km. The car in general never skips a beat, gets fantastic mileage, and is probably the most reliable car I've had. Brakes need doing in the new year too! ;-)

To reset the computer just disconnect your battery for about 20 minutes or even overnight just to make sure, also helps to have your stereo code handy or Fraud might try to rape your wallet to retrieve it ($20 from personal experience), maybe even try cleaning out the throttle body/idle controller with some carby cleaner,you will be amazed at the shite that comes out of there,hope this helps, thanks to GK for the how to's

I have been the beneficiary of the the implimentation of both of those how to's before. It has not been all that long since I last did them both actually, but I guess it's possible some krudd (no intentional political connotation implied) has built up. I'll have a go at them again on the weekend when I'm doing the other stuff.
The mech I spoke to suggested that the BCM was located under the dash somewhere and only needed to be disconnected for about 30 seconds. I already have my stereo code, after phoning about 5 different Fraud dealers until 1 actually gave it to me for free over the phone the last time I reset the ECU. That was another excellent How To guide I got from here. The How To reset your computer with all the 30 secs in Drive, then 30 secs with the a/c on, then 30 secs with your tongue sticking out at a 17 degree angle etc. Very helpful stuff. Thanks again. I'll let you know if it cures it or not.

the BEM module i think is infront of the gear shifter under the ash tray area..
i THINK could be wrong tho so check your max ellery manual for exact location or the wiring diagram threads further down the main AFF page..
