how can i tell which tc will be able to take the 6cyl and which can only take the 4???

TC's designed for sixes have a big bulge in the bonnet much like the difference in the current Falcon between 6 and 8 cyl.

Sorry - I though the original question was how to recognise if a 6 could be fitted to a TC cortina. The bonnet was the easiest most recognisable difference between the two body designs and their respective differences which I believed to be the deeper dished firewall and heavier suspension assembly.
If XR-351 wants to hide a 6 in a 4 cylinder body well than thats a different question all together and should have been posed along those lines.

I think 6 cylinder was released late 72, maybe early 73, when they dropped the 1.6 from the lineup, So perhaps after 6 cyl release all bodies copped the 6 cyl upgrade except the bonnet. 6 cylinders also had quad headlights, and I think was only XL and XLE trim level in TC, but across the range in TD-TF
