Recently saw the 64 Falcon Sprint racecar of Jim Richards, currently under construction, at his workshop in Melbourne.
It is without a doubt the finest example of its kind. It is like a V8Supercar in 1964 clothing! The car is being built to race in the Biante Touring Car Masters racing series. I understand it is only days away from getting a shakedown test and then it should be heading up to QLD for the Shannons Sports and Muscle Car Showdown. Only has a 289 V8 but apparently the Mick Webb built engine, came up trumps on the dyno. It can be viewed on www.picasaweb.google.com.au/tytechengines JR's crew-chief from 1990, Bruce Tyson, has built the car. Let's hope it performs as good as it looks. rgds 84march |

The biante series is starting to get out of control.. the top cars are getting closer to V8SC's now than their original street guise..

Wow. Considering the lower weight of these things and the no expense spared construction (and the sublime skill of one J Richards!) this thing could be a real surprise package.
It might not match the 351's, 350 etc in the grunt deparetment but it will be lighter and better balanced. Cannot wait! |

Well it is millionaires racing after all. They are spending some absolutely stupid money on the cars and engines ($100+k engines in some of them) spending big dollars for minor weight savings and now they have some good quality steerers in them (Seton, Bowe, Richards – nice way to spend your retirement guys!).
It’ll be interesting to see how an E55 Charger goes with all of the freedoms that the Biante class allows.

I spent the weekend at Qld Raceway and this car is going to give the front runners in the Biante Series a shake up. It is a really well sorted car and isn't short of mumbo in a straight line. Jim had a ball and they used the weekend as a shakedown for the car.
