yesterday i asked my boss for a pay rise but he didnt sound to will to up my pay rate by an extra $1.50 p/hour @ 60hrs/wk. but instead he offered my something else instead of rate rise. at the moment i have a company ute which i have free use of so i dont need to pay fuel for that, supplied mobile phone but i cant really think of anything that could benefit my situation.
the only other thing i could use is a fuelcard so they can supply me with petrol for my family car. do you have any other options i could ask him for? cheers scott |

I will ask the obvious question then what did he offer you instead of a rate rise?

Private Health Insurance.
1/. Frees you from the clutches of the pathetic public health system. 2/. Saves you paying the medi-care surcharge come tax-time

Direct super contribution? (but I hate super and would never advise anyone to put money into it)
Private health is a good one as Charlie said Laptop (but changes to the tax laws make this difficult if not impossible) Shares Home bills paid Mortgage repayments or rent covered that'll get some thoughts going for you....

Private health insurance or at least Dental for the family.
Paid Family vacation each year. Cash bonus each year. Shares (if the company is listed). |

If your boss has any smarts about him he will not entertain the idea of private health insurance. As a employer it is not tax effective for him (FBT).
I would go for extra super contributions if he is not going to pay extra on an hourly rate. Not knowing what you do for a crust, but is there some sort of training (tafe, industry based) that you want to do that may help your career in the years ahead? |

Yeah as Duke said, don't do any adiditonal Super..... I would go either cash bonuses each year or shares / equity in the company. With the cahs bonuses, he would be willing to offer this as it will be an incentive for you to work harder and achieve some realistic goals. ie he gets more from you and you get more from him by way of $$$. The same goes with equity.

Sounds like your well looked after already mate. I'd be after training or as said say an extra weeks annual leave a year or an RDO once a fortnight or month.
Geese i don't have a phone, don't have a car, and only got a $1/hour rise this year. I need to get a new job. lol.

one of my brothers got a spending spree at harvey norman`s store a couple of years ago. his boss opened an account there with $xxxx paid in and told him to go and get what they wanted.
one extra that we get at work (only in some depots) is paid accomodation when on annual leave, salary sacrifice for power bills.
