Would have thought you could pick up some supermarket night fill work at this time of year pretty easily.

Australia Post are usually looking at this time because of the Christmas rush.
Also try a console operator at a servo (if you're not afraid of being held up).

Always weekend work in security industry. You don't have to be a bouncer either. You can get work in resorts, residential and highrise buildings even construction sites.

Too bad the SIR and govt has made getting into the industry a farce and retaining your license a money grab

Even with mutual recognition each state will eventually have to do it I reckon, so if you've got your ACT license then Mutual Recog it to NSW you'll still have to do it eventually under ACT's system.
Qld should be next year.

So someone after a job in lets say, retail, calls up and provides details and a couple of weeks later a job opportunity presents itself? I thought employment agencies were more for large corporations after specifically skilled workers.

what your after is Labour Hire agencies
like Edge personell or manpower or somthing like that they get calls for temp workers because its not so much cheaper but more legal to easily be able to ring them and get temporary workers who they can flick at the sign of a slowdown rather than hire a casual and have to give them work or then sack them or make them redundant
