Wink FALCON Gets The Kitten !!!

Purring kitty trapped in cop car's bumper

From: The Daily Telegraph April 26, 2010 9:53AM
Lucky escape ... a Police Highway Patrol Officer found this cute and scared kitten in the bumper of his Ford Turbo. Photo: Police Media Source: Supplied

A HIGHWAY patrol officer's car engine was literally purring like a cat after a cute kitten was found trapped inside the front bumper of the Ford Turbo.

The Police Highway Patrol Officer was surprised to find the furry friend while conducting a patrol in Sydney’s south west late last week.

About 9.30am on Friday 23 April, an officer from Fairfield Highway patrol was conducting duties in his highway patrol car on Cartwright Avenue, Cartwright, when he was forced to brake for a cat running in front of the car.

After braking, the officer, assuming the cat had run away, continued his patrol attending an RBT site on Elizabeth Drive, Ashcroft about 10am as part of Operation Go Slow.

Whilst setting up to conduct random breath tests the Senior Constable heard ‘meowing’ coming from the front end of the Ford XR6 Turbo.

An examination of the car was conducted and a small grey/black kitten was seen sticking its head out of a drain hole in the front bumper of the car.

The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, where the vehicle was hoisted and the front bumper removed, revealing the meowing and frightened kitten.

The kitten was removed and police are attempting to locate the owner of the kitten, affectionately referred to by officers as "Cartwright" and police assure us that no animal was harmed during the police operation.

It's not the first time a feline has been stuck between the teeth of a Falcon Turbo.

Amazing story of survival. Very cute little thing too.

Hope it finds a loving family to call home if it's a stray.

I have a "cat-in-car" story, but it wasn't so lucky as Cartwright... poor thing died the next day. Still, that'll learn it for climbing into the fan shroud of my grandmother's Chevy Malibu..!

I noticed a bird stuck behind the grill of a Fedral Police car (Falcon) once.
I told the officer about it and showed him and he told me he had just driven about 50kms!
Either the bird was in there to get the bugs or he hit it on the drive and it could not get back out.

I had an old Holden Panelvan with a bonnet scoop and a hole cut in the bonnet. In winter if we got home late, our cat would climb up onto the air clearner which had nice clearance to the scoop, and quite often a quick check under the scoop before I left for work would reveal a pair of eyes staring back. Nice and warm especially in the middle of winter.
