White for the engine bay & interior is good as it helps to show any leaks or cracks.
As much as I love gloss black on cars, which is probably a hangover from various JPS Loti & BMWs I'd avoid it on a race car unless the panels are perfect & someone is going to keep them that way over the course of a season. I like the flashy silver "Vodaphone" silver that 888 & McLaren use looks good, is reasonably neutral & looks half classy. There were some trick paints around a few years ago that looked like that colour, from memory they were a few $$$. Now I'd try & use those thin contact films.
