Hi all,
Did a search on catalytic converters but could'nt find exactly what I want. I have 2.5 redback exhaust system with a resonator fitted now but still run the stock cat. I'd like replace the cat with a 100cpsi one but am worried about any extra noise. Can anyone running a 100 tell me if they make the exhaust system much louder. I dont want the boys in blue looking at me.!!!! Thanks |

I bought two off this site a year ago for a mates SS Ute. Made it a bit louder, definitely more crackly on the overrun and slightly more of an old school sound I suppose.

Won't necessarily make the note louder, but it will make it a tiny bit deeper.

Hi Canuk7, I had two 100 CPI 3"cats fitted last Thursday. The week before I had some Pacies 4 into 1's fitted into the old 2 1/2 inch Redback exhaust system into the stock cats. There was an improvement in power and torque and sounded a bit different. Anyways when I went to have the cats fitted we found the old system to resembled something like swiss cheese so a new 2 1/2 Mantra system was fitted along with the 3"cats which are 100 CPI Metal Matrix. Well I got a call to pick the Fairmont up and the exhaust guy said your car is ready mate and it sounds friggin awesome. I am very happy with the note which sounds like an old school v8 especially at idle, start up and when cruising at 2000RPM and below, over 2500RPM its "barky" then sounds different again over 3500 RPM. I am also happy in the power and torque gain however wouldnt say it was good bang for buck but at least I'm set up for future mods now, hope this helps. Oh and yeah its pretty loud now thats for sure
