It's 1970 and Allan Moffat wins Bathurst,from that day onwards i'm a Ford man for life.10 years later my first car is a 1965 Falcon,i've had other makes of cars since due to family and work reasons but i always go back to Ford as they truly are the best car on the road.

Most of my family have always been holden people..then when I was only little (6-7) dad went out on a limb and bought a yellow XD from a car yard. It was cheap, looked awesome and went well. Had fat 12 slotters, lowered on its guts and a worked xflow. I fell in love with that car and said I wanted one ever since. Not long after my parents bought a brand new holden jackaroo and the XD became the toy and got more work done to it. Sort of like a father son project. Sadly my dad passed away in 2000 just before my 10th birthday and the car was sold off not long after much to my disgust. That was my first love of ford.

When I was 15 I got my first road car. Driving past a few cars on the side of the road for sale I seen an immaculate XF panelvan. It had fresh paint, was lowered, had mags and dark tint. It was overall really tidy. I ended up getting it and spent the year on my L's doing it up how I liked. The day I got my Ls I drove straight from the RTA to the exhaust shop and had extractors and sports exhaust put on it. Then done the usual big stereo, gauges etc. This really grew my love for fords.

I owned a modified vn commodore for a bit but was nothing but trouble as it always broke down and played up. I sold it then bought my series 2 ef fairmont ghia and havent looked back. I am only 20 now and have 4 fords and about to get number 5. I wouldnt get anything else.

From as long as I can remember Dad and his older brother always had Fords. We went from an XP sedan to an XA Sedan, to a TD Cortina, to a brand new TF Cortina ( that was big ! ) then to another brand new car , a Telstar, then 2 Lasers. If a Ford was good enough for my old man, it was good enough for me............

My Mum & Dad had a FB Holden then a LJ Torana
They had nothing in them, no seat belts no radio no heater standard
but both leaked lots of water in the rain

I had a new Datsun 180 B as my first car in 1974

I purchased my first FORD in 1976 and XB GT Coupe
as a result of loving BATHURST for years and watching
real FORDS run around the track, ones you could go and
buy at your dealership

Unlike the crap they race around BATHURST today

Funny you mention the ED. It was the ED that confirmed it for us, Falcon better than Commodore; Dad had a VR at the same time as mum-in-law had an EBII when they were new. Guess which one was more comfortable, far more refined, more solid, and a superior open road car, with far less faults? It wasn't the tinny Commodore. Later I was to learn that the Falcon had far more Australian engineering design and content, even better. As each new model has arrived from both manufacturers in the years that have passed, I've taken keen interest. Falcon has almost always come out as the better car, and that continues to this day.

When we had our 2nd little one, we bought an ED Classic GLi sedan (still love the factory mag wheels!) with 50K on the clock on it in 2000. Wow, beautiful, it was even better than the EBII, and I was genuinely sad to see it go.

As I am a little older now and I thought we needed a second car, I wanted to recapture that ED feeling recently, and bought a manual ED Sprint. Completely different animal to the GLi! (And 'Animal' is the word!) A true Aussie muscle car, cloaked in one of the most Australian looking bodies of the last 30 years...



And, backatchya! I'd also love a nice, very original ED XR6 to compliment it...

I grew up as a holden fan (Peter Brock fan) and always fancied a holden P/Van but my first car was a TD cortina and i have never looked back since.The only holden i have bought was a gemini for the missus but since then she has always been in a Falcon and at 42yrs old have still only owned 1 holden car.

The first car I remember was dad and his ZB Fairlane .... then trading it in on a brand new 1973 ZF Fairlane, white 302 .... which I then used when I got my P's all those years later. My first purchase was an XY panelvan, then about 30 odd cars later, of which 3 were not Fords, I have stuck with them. My stepdad bought a Brown XD with yellow/orange and red pin stripe and gold 14" x 7" Bathurst Globes with NCT 70 Goodyears..

It had an immediate affect on me as i had just started reading Street Machine magazine , it was only a crossflow but it looked awesome...

I washed that car 3 times a week when i was 13 and every time painted the lettering on the tyres white as well...

One of my first jobs was in the mines in Ipswich so my first car was a Phase II XW with 351 Cleveland and Top loader in Vermillion Fire with Gold stripes and Hotwires, i paid $9000 for it...

I lost my licence 2 days later and sold that car for $6500 back in 88' ..

I found it in Unique Cars magazine in 03' asking $175000+ for it

My dad used to work at a Holden dealer that was also a Ampol servo. So nearly every week he was bringing home Holden rulers, pamplets and 'Jolly Swagman' bags. Kinda brainwashing!!! Typically he owned a Holden and it was a Holden family. So as a kid I became hooked on Monaro's (still like the HK-HZ GTS).
In October 1974 I sat down with my family to watch the Hardie Ferodo and saw the sweetest looking car I had ever seen, the Brut 33 Falcon. I was facinated with it. A year later my first Ford ride was a trip out west in a XY Futura. I loved it. In the meanwhile my brother bought a new HX Monaro. He traded it a few years later on a new XD Falcon. At first I was horrified, but soon came to love the shape of the XD. It was a unfortunate incident with a rail that we ended up with a 'cheap' XT Falcon for a few weeks. When the rego expired it was given to me to bash around the paddock. I learnt a lot from owning that car. I was forced to sell it because ma didn't want a car in the driveway...... I ended up with a Torana as a first rego'd car until I came across a XA GT RPO coupe cheap. I couldn't believe a car could have so much power!!! The roar from the Cleveland was intoxicating From that point on, I'vemainly been with Fords ever since.

i grew up with all my uncles having fords so it sort of drifted down the line to me plus one of them owns the wreckers at innot hot springs which is good when i need bits lol.
i learnt to drive when i was 11 or so in a 73 escort 2 door.
over the years ive owned only fords apart from a couple of suzuki 4wd's.
past cars have been xa coupe,xc gs ute, xd 302 ute,xd fairmont,xf taxi pack,ea s,eb fairmont,ef fairmont,au vct xr6 and a ba rtv.a telstar tx5 and the mrs has had a couple of wa festivas.
first car was an xc gs ute,stocko 302 auto which i loved.
currently drive a ba rtv and an ef fairmont.probably pick up a ranger twin cab when the new one hits the streets.

For me
Ford Family. Dad owns a Mustang, we had a 351 XF when i was kid, hell we even had a bloody 96 Taurus
And me being young and needing a car, obviously it was going to be ford, cause i just loved em by then!
And the XC was just there at the right time when i was looking for XA-XC and for the right price!

Mid 1960's and my parents had a lot of pommie cars , mostly Austin and Morris with a couple of Wolesly's . one day in the local poapoer I saw an add for a 1939 Fors v8 close buy and rang then walked over there , it had a bad chatter problem when driving off and in discussion I negotiated a price of $40.00 retuning the next day to collect it .
Got it home and tightened up the torque rods motor to firewall which took the turning force from thetorque tube , I was 15 years old and had my permit to drive accompanied sitting the full test a week later and the following day drove it to high school with a grin nothing was going to wipe away , I drove it for a year selling it for $200.00 stepping into a 1959 F100 stock as a rock :
In those days I used to wirk in the evenings cleaning for $18.00 a week ) and petrol was available for about 20C a litre in the garage machines after hours

Dad had an XA Falcon which he abused and only got rid of it when he hit something. (was a basket case by then anyway).

He then got an XF, which he also abused and only got rid of it after having enough of several years of "When are you gonna get another bloody car" from myself and my brother. He kept that one 2-3 years too long.

Figured that if they survived with all that abuse, one that was looked after would also look after you.

So I worked my *** off and saved 15 grand. Big money 13 years ago for an 18 year old just into Uni.

Flicked through the papers:

"New Ford Festiva, $14,990 with free comprehensive insurance".

Had to get my mate to drive it home... couldn't afford the extra 2 grand for the auto box lol.

Kept and cherished the Festiva for 10 years. Lost her way too early after to a silly mishap on the road by my doing.

Just got my hands on a LV Focus diesel for the wife. (She preferred the look of the i30) but I convinced her the Focus was the better car (and on paper it is).

This one is a keeper and will also be cherished.

all of my family were ford fans when i was growing up, mum and dad had so many fords i cant remember what they were, im only 19 on my red p's and my first car was a ba classic they gave me to learn in and drive when i got my p's but after about 2-3 months after driving i stop at ford one weekend to dream about owning a xr50 1 day, i went home and told mum and dad two weeks later i sighnd for my white xr50 that i love to death, the day before my bro bought a xr6t ute brand new

My Pop.. Plain and Simple, for him if it wasn't built by Ford it was a piece of rubbish, he loved his XE with a passion and treats his EF like it's a new car.

He planted the seed that as i grew older i began to support, like many people my age the "Ambrose Era" with the BA Falcon marked the first time in years people could understand why you would bother to be a Ford fan after all the domination of Holden/HRT on the track and street.

In 2006 i left school and got a job in WA a few months later with one thing in mind... a BA XR8.. The car that when those first photos were released i knew then and there that i had to have one.

My Dad was a Ford man, although he had dabbled in other brands when he was younger, and my brother thats into cars is a Ford man also, so I grew up with blue blood. This is ironic since both my dad and my mum worked for Holden, mum still does. No special cars though, an XB sedan, XC wagon and XF S-pac were the family cars of my childhood.

I loved the XB coupe as a teenager and had aspirations to own one. Ended up with an XA coupe for my first car and fell in love with the XA styling. I've bought blue oval since.

My father worked in companys that sponsered motorsport hence he took me and my brother along to manymany events but this sticks in my memory forever and set the cast :
1971 - Oran Park - little did I know it was a ATCC round, after a race we are cruising the pits Dad saying Hi to many drivers passing their tents, then we get to the CokeaCola tent and there she is - this red beautiful beast cooling down after a mother of a thrashing but win - feeling the tyres still hot and picking the gravel stones embedded, get up look in the cockpit and just drool and smell the fumes !

My old man loved Yank cars .. had a few '57 Chevs .. and he made my Mum suffer driving old English junk that was cheap; Mini, Morris, Austin, etc so that wasn't really an influence on me buying a Ford. When I was a teenager all I wanted as a Camaro. Before I got my license my first car was a Studebaker Lark and I went on to a string of Dodge Phoenix(es) and Valiants. But a friend of mine loved Fords and I ended up buying a couple of F100s. Eventually that friend sold me an XC GXL 5.8 and I was one of the best value "bang-for-buck" I ever got. A great car. I ended up also buying a XB GS coupe from him too.
I'm happy to say as a card-carrying, daily driving Holden owner (SV8), Ford RULED in the Seventies and Early Eighties with the Cleveland. I miss my Clevo-powered GXL and XB coupe.

My Dad always mostly had Fords. I remember a silver v4 Capri with all the extras and a dark green XP. His work vans were always the good old Econovan. I badly wanted an RS2000 but my first car was a $400 corolla pos, then a Mazda panel van that I spent all my money on doing up. After 9 years of company cars I bought a ED with a big exhaust, deep dish wheels and Fairmont trim. If it had a V8 I would still own it. By that time I really wanted a V8 so I sold it and bought an AU2 XR8. I hope I NEVER have to part with it! Then the classic bug bit so a ZG with a 302 now resides in the garage. I will always own a Ford. Sadly my brother went to the dark side.
