Default Buying a car interstate

Anyone know the run down on this?

I'm in Brisbane and theres a car in Victoria I like, I figure I can get it checked out by RACQ or something, however in regards to rego and RWC, how deos that work?

I'll probably get it thrown onto the back of a truck and brought down, doubt i'll be able to get off work to go there and drive her back.

Thanks

We call it RACV down here. V is for VIC._2: RACV do car inspections and then write out a report for you. You could buy the car unregisted, and then re-register in QLD. Confirm with QLD RTA.
This is the site for RACV.

HaHaHa im looking at a car as well im in victoria and the car is 2 -3 hrs the other side of Brisbane its unfinshed so i would have to do the same as you and truck it down .

AS for you dose the car come with a R.W.C.?
if it dose then change it into your name first pay the change over and stamp duty fees then take it to QLD and change the plates .
That is reverse of what the R.T.A. just told me on thursday .

so i'll put it into my name in VIC, then transfer VIC rego. Then cancel the VIC rego, then ship her to QLD, and re-register and re-RWC the car?

You should be able to get a Permit from the QLD road authority, to drive the car for a week or two. If you can pick it up and drive it, that will let you drive it unregistered back to QLD, but you will only have as long as the Permit states to get it Roadworthied in QLD and Rego'd.
Thats what i did when i picked my car up from NSW and drove it back to VIC.
Although they weren't totally happy that it was being driven 9 hours back home with a Vicroads permit, but they still allowed it.
Permit should cost about $50
Your best bet is to ring the QLD Road Authority and ask them straight out.
