Hi
I've just replaced the discs and callipers on my AU2 with standard BA discs and callipers. I'm not quite finished as I still have to bleed the lines but I'm concerned by the brake hose bracket that tethers the hose to the strut. I've read that you need to use the BA hoses and the BA brackets to hold the hoses. The ones on my AU appear to be spot welded onto the strut and in the wrong position. Do I need to remove some brake hose brackets from a pair of dead BA struts and weld them to my AU struts? How have you guys who have done this conversion solved this problem? Thanks Chris |

I had ABS do mine and they needed to make new hoses and mounts...at least that's what they told me!

I Thought ba struts bolted straight into an au maybe that's the easiest way?

I added BA brakes to my AU XR6 series I. I added AUIII stub axles, lower control arms and sway bar, I used the BA brake hoses and the bracket that bolts to the caliper mount, to hold the hoses as BAs don't have brackets welded to the strut. Have a look at the two links below.

I fitted slotted BA discs and callipers to my Fairlane and am still using the AUII hoses, I just don't have them in the brackets any more and haven't had any issues at all in the 2 years they've been on.

When I did my AUII to BA front calipers I used the original clip that came with the BA calipers with new PBR BA braided hoses.
The port where the hose enters the caliper is different and justifies the use of the BA hose. The original clip on the AUII shock tube I just bent up and away from the hose. All good. Bill.

No, they may be ok but, I usually don't trust second hand brake parts.

I did the simple thing, got custom ones made... and braided aswell... worth it IMO.
