Hey guys my AU just started making this noise yesterday. I'm guessing it's the fanbelt? I don't know.. If someone could enlighten me as to what exactly it is, and point me in the right direction with fixing it, it would be much appreciated
Couldn't manage to upload the video I took last night on here, so here's a youtube link. Cheers http://youtu.be/Q-yntULh4Yw |

Well, I will say that it is more likely the bearings in the pulleys on the adjuster. They are available form Ford Dealers and of course, Ebay. I think they are about $30.00 each from Ford.

It will probably be noisy from now on. I'm surprised you didn't seize it, with the amount of noise it was making

sounds like the system has sprung a pretty good leak. You might want to get underneath and have a look.

There is every chance it is leaking from the line where it bolts to the back of the pump, or the switch on the steering rack.
I've never heard one so loud...!! |

Nahhh my own stupid fault.. it was leaking on to the alternator so I replaced the high pressure hose a few weeks ago.. had **** all fluid to put back in there so I made a mental note to go and buy more. Mental notes don't work for me.

I've never seen/heard of them burning it. If it were me, I would fill it to the appropriate level, and then just drive it, and keep a close eye on it, check every couple of days, and if it starts to drop the level...look for leaks.
